ASHEVILLE, NC – Six members of the UNC Asheville Bulldogs men's soccer team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, the organization announced Tuesday. The recognition highlights the student-athletes' outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom, underscoring the program’s commitment to holistic development.
The honored players represent a diverse range of academic disciplines and positions on the field, showcasing the breadth of talent within the Bulldogs' squad. Earning the prestigious accolade are defenders Sam Bernard and Jake Kemhadjian, midfielders Charlie Campbell and Conor Reichert, and forwards Gus Phillips and Miles Peay.
To qualify for the Academic All-District® honor, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, participate in at least 50% of their team's games, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The six Bulldogs exceeded these requirements, demonstrating a commitment to excellence that extends beyond the soccer pitch.

Sam Bernard, a junior defender majoring in Biology, has been a stalwart in the Bulldogs' backline this season, starting every game and logging significant minutes. His consistent performance and academic rigor made him a natural candidate for the award.
Jake Kemhadjian, a senior defender pursuing a degree in Management, has also been a key contributor to the team's defensive efforts. His leadership and experience have been invaluable to the Bulldogs' success. He not only excels on the field but maintains a strong academic record while balancing the demands of collegiate athletics.
Charlie Campbell, a sophomore midfielder studying Economics, has emerged as a dynamic playmaker for the Bulldogs. His vision and passing ability have been crucial to the team's offensive strategy. Campbell's commitment to academics is exemplified by his strong performance in challenging coursework.
Conor Reichert, a senior midfielder majoring in Political Science, has been a consistent presence in the midfield, providing both offensive and defensive contributions. Reichert's leadership qualities extend beyond the field, as he is actively involved in campus organizations.
Gus Phillips, a junior forward pursuing a degree in Health and Wellness Promotion, has been a constant threat to opposing defenses. His scoring prowess and work ethic have made him a valuable asset to the Bulldogs' attack. Phillips manages to balance the physical demands of being a forward with a rigorous academic schedule.
Miles Peay, a junior forward studying New Media, brings a creative flair to both his academics and his play on the field. He's known for his innovative approach and strong technical skills. Peay contributes regularly to the team's offensive output, showcasing his academic and athletic talents.
The Academic All-District® teams are selected by the College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. As Academic All-District® honorees, these six Bulldogs are now eligible for consideration for Academic All-America® honors, which will be announced in late December.
